In summer our terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean invites you to enjoy a drink, meal or an aperitif before dinner ; during winter there is nothing like staying in the comfort of our ” Sala das Damas ” or library lounge with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
We recommend to experience our Five o’ clock tea with homemade cakes, scones and some other delicious sweets.

Restaurant Fortaleza do Guincho was opened in 1998, as the Hotel. Acclaimed French Chef Antoine Westermann introduced a haute cuisine restaurant, which quickly became a reference in Portugal.
In 2001 the restaurant received a 1* Michelin , held until today. Over the years, some of the modern references in Portuguese cuisine passed through Fortaleza do Guincho , which caused the restaurant to acquire the status of a 'school'. Originally with a classic French base, Portuguese products and traditions have been gaining more and more prominence in Fortaleza do Guincho.
Among the many distinctions awarded to the restaurant you will find 3*** in the Repsol guide 2016 and the Platinum Fork in 2014 by Boa Mesa Boa Cama guide.
2015 was a banner year for the history of the restaurant when Miguel Rocha Vieira arrived in August as the new Executive Chef of Fortaleza do Guincho - the first time a Portuguese took the reins of one of the most emblematic cuisines of Portugal.
In 2018 Gil Fernandes, after 3 years of dedication and lots of creativity as Miguel Vieira’s Sous-Chef, takes over the leadership and intensifies the Portuguese seal. “The experience at the table of Fortaleza do Guincho continues to be the one of discovery around the Portuguese culture, traditions and history”.
