In the heart of the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais, this 17th centrury fortification, now converted into a hotel, reminds that you are entering an ancient defensive fortress thanks to the two large cannons at the entrance. This is a building of character and immense charm, with preserved interiors.
Along with the Cabo da Roca lighthouse Fortaleza do Guincho is the most westerly point in Europe. Atlantic waves crash against the rocks at the foot of this impressive building. Lisbon international airport is only 60 minutes away.
Fortaleza do Guincho can easely be combined with any other Relais & Châteaux property in Portugal; going to the south you will have a drive of 3hours, going to the nort a drive of 3hours and 30 minutes; that jorney can easely by done by car or by traing.
